
An agreement of intent to create a branch of Ushu Palace of Shaolin monastery on the territory of the Kalmyc Republic (Russian Federation) was signed in Beijing. Ushu Palace is situated in Henan province of People's Republic of China.
Actually the branch of Shaolin will be created within one of Buddhistic monasteries in Kalmykia where the monks of this Chinese monastery will train the basis of martial arts.
The choice will be made between Centralized Kalmyk
Buddhist Monastery "Geden Sheddup Choi Corling" and new temple "Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni", which was officially named by His Holiness Dalai Lama XIV.
Training will be available not only to Russians, but to foreigners as well, including citizens of the European countries for which Kalmykia is geographically situated much closer, than China.
The courses for those, who wish to behold the secrets of martial arts as well as philosophy of Shaolin Monastery, will last from three months up to two years.
Masters of martial arts of Shaolin Monastery headed by General Manager of Ushu Palace lf the Shaolin Monastery, Xiao Junbo, had already arrived to Elista (capital of Kalmykia) to show demonstration performance.
In the course of the visit the matter of a site for building of the branch of Shaolin will be reviewed alongside with the question of basic areas of branch's activities.
It is assumed that inside of the brach the courses of martial arts (Ushu, Kungfu), recreative gymnastics (thai-chi-cuan, chi-gun), dietetics and philosophy will be opened. Recreative gymnastics for the elder people will become separate area of activity.
We remind that first this project was announced by the leader of Kalmykia after his visit to prominent monastery during the visit of Vladimir Putin to China in March 2006.
